Internet of Everything (IoE)

What is IOE?

The Internet of Things (IoE) “brings together people, processes, data, and objects to make network connectivity more important and valuable than ever before; transforming information into new capabilities, richer experiences, and unprecedented economic opportunities for individuals and nations” (Cisco, 2013). In short, IoE aims to achieve new gains by intelligently bringing together Things, People, Processes, and Data over the Internet. IoE involves billions of objects connected via standard protocols on public or private networks worldwide, processing their status information about themselves and their surroundings through sensors, and executing intelligent processes accordingly.

IOE consists of four core components:

• Human: Connecting people in more appropriate ways.

• Data: Transforming raw data into meaningful information to make more informed decisions.

• Process: Presenting the right information to the right person (or machine) at the right time.

• Object: Physical objects connected to each other over a network for intelligent decision-making, also called IoT.

The difference between IoT and IoE…

In the Internet of Everything (IoE) concept, people, processes, and data live on the IoT ecosystem. IoE will improve our lives by integrating the power of the Internet with advancements in business and industry.

IoT is a network of physical devices connected to the Internet, which can read and communicate about events around them and make automated decisions. For example, the Nest smart thermostat, which gained fame after being acquired by Google, is one of the first examples of such devices.

IOE will run its business models and processes on this network, and entirely new ways of doing business will emerge. Exciting developments such as data analysis (Big Data), data-driven prediction, and decision-making (automation) will enter people's lives thanks to this.
